"Drone Sleepover Chicago 2023" captures the essence of this unique dusk-to-dawn ambient music sleep concert series.

The concert unfolded on June 24, 2023, in Chicago, IL in a renovated carpet factory known as Parker Karlov. While most Drone Sleepover albums are recorded live at the event, the original files from this concert were unfortunately lost in a flood. This simulation archive faithfully recreates the journey, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in the sounds that defined the night. The files have been split into A side and B side to not sacrifice quality but read as one continuous performance.

History of Drone Sleepover:
Originating in an apartment in Chicago amongst friends in 2021, this annual tradition has evolved into a one-of-a-kind experience occupying expansive 4,000-plus sqft warehouses throughout the country. The roots of Drone Sleepover trace back to ambient traditions, focusing on community building through deep listening techniques. The goal is to bring a sea of sleeping and restful bodies into one common center, referred to in the StretchMetal field guide as the ((common ring)).

I never get tired of this album. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to it front to back. I share it with friends whenever I get the chance. I’ve been listening to Ambient and other synth music for decades and have never heard anything quite like it. manycat
